Protein synthesis -translation project

Construct a 3 dimensional model of the process of translation as it occurs in the cell.

One example is pictured on the right.

Show the following:

- the nucleus of the cell (1 mark)
- a chromosome, revealing the supercoiled nature of the DNA.(1 mark)
- a messenger RNA escaping the nucleus. (1 mark)
- transfer RNA's with the triplicate code on their surface (1 mark)
- amino acids floating in the cytoplasm and bonding to specific tRNA's (1 mark)
- a protein chain being formed (1 mark)
- a ribosome showing how it translates the code of the mRNA into a protein. (1 mark)
- reveal how the tRNA binds to the codon on the mRNA at the ribosome
.(1 mark)
- the correlation between the codon sequence on the mRNA and the amino acid sequence on the protein chain.(2 marks)
