Water molecule

Chemical bond formed by two electrons buzzing between the hydrogen and oxygen atoms. The oxygen atom is has each energy level fully occupied by electrons. The hydrogen atoms have their first energy level full with electrons.

A simple drawing of the water molecule showing the sharing of electrons. Notice how the oxygen atom needs two atoms to fill its top level. It therefore shares two electrons, one with each hydrogen atom. Each hydrogen atom shares one electron back with the oxygen atom. At the end of the reaction both the hydrogen and oxygen atom are energy efficient.

The oxygen and two hydrogen atoms form a water molecule.
