Hydrogen bonding in DNA

Guanine and cytosine hydrogen bonding to each other. The attraction is fairly strong and the position of the dipole charges on guanine and cytosine make the attraction specific to the two molecules. Any other base coming near will not bond as the dipoles will not be in the right position to promote a force of attraction. Click to see an example
