Injection moulding

The plastic pellets are melted in the heating coils and injected into the mould by the action of a plunger. The plastic is solidified by cooling and takes the shape dictated by the mould.

 

Plastic spoons, knives and forks are examples of items made from injection moulding. Pictured on the left is the process in action forming plastic spoons.
