1) You are the Chief Engineer in a construction company. Your Boss calls you in one day and instructs you to "Secure the steel beams with copper bolts. Copper does not rust as quickly so the beams are likely to stay up longer" Argue against this according to the results you have produced from your experiment. |

2) A plumber came along to fix your burst galvanised steel water pipe. "Simple" he sais. "We will replace the burst section of steel pipe with a brand new copper pipe. I'll just weld the ends together and it will be right" Describe why the pipe burst two weeks later. 3) A boat made from steel was built in the backyard. Your friend asks your advice on how to best protect his boat from rusting. He does not want to paint it. Offer a cheap solution and explain how your method works. |
