Jonathon was asked to calculate the percentage by mass of ammonium sulfate in a brand of lawn fertiliser called "Razman's Quick Grow" .

Jonathon placed 0.920 grams of lawn food in a flask. He then added 50ml of 0.3M NaOH solution and heated the solution to boiling point for ten minutes. The excess base in the solution was titrated with 0.1M sulfuric acid and an average, concordant, titre of 19.98mls was obtained.
