Jonathon conducted the experiment shown on the left. He took a 1 gram piece of copper and dropped it in a beaker containing 50 ml of nitric acid. He then covered the top of the beaker and measured the time it takes for the reaction to go to completion. He then cut a 1 gram piece of copper metal into tiny pieces and repeated the experiment with exactly the same volume and concentration of nitric acid.
