Hydrogen as a fuel
Hydrogen is very flammable.

Demonstration of the flammable nature of hydrogen gas. Teacher activity ONLY.

To create hydrogen in the laboratory, place a small strip of zinc metal in dilute hydrochloric acid. A chemical reaction will take place and hydrogen gas will be produced. Place your thumb over the opening to the test tube so that you collect the resultant gas int he test tube. Bring a lit match close to the test tube and remove your thumb. The hydrogen ignites.
