Solution
The energy transformations
Solar -------> Chemical potential
--------> heat --------> kinetic
Photosynthesis is the process that traps
solar energy and converts it into chemical potential energy. This energy
is stored in plant matter and is released as heat energy when wood is burnt.
This heat is used to turn water into steam. The steam(water) molecules have
a great deal of kinetic energy(they move very fast). This kinetic energy
is used to move other objects such as pistons.

Some examples include:. -A car has energy (kinetic) it can push itself along the road overcoming the forces of friction and air resistance. -Petrol in the car has energy. It supplies energy to the engine to push the car along the road. -A book resting on the top shelf has energy. It can fall and cause something else to move. |
