A velocity time
graph can tell us a great deal about the motion of the object that is
being studied. Look at the graph below of a rocket.
From the graph,
we can tell the following details:
- The fuel runs out 30 seconds into the flight as the rocket starts
to slow down.
- The rocket reaches its peak altitude 35 seconds into the flight where
the velocity is 0.
- 55 seconds into the flight the rocket comes to a sudden stop(crash).
- The area under the graph is the distance travelled by the rocket.
