When an object is viewed through a clear cylinder the unusual images are formed. Click to see a 120kb video of a vehicle viewed through a water field cylinder. Why does the image of the car appear to be going in the reverse direction to the real car? Why is the image of the vehicle smaller? Is the image real or virtual? Why is the image upright? (Ask your teacher to explain the nature of the curvature of the cylinder. The cylinder is curved around the vertical plane) Solution What would the image be like
if the person viewed the object through a horizontal cylinder? Click to see a 120kb video of an image formed by a horizontal cylinder.
