Consider the equation below

8x - 3 = 3x + 8

We have unknowns on both sides. Before we can solve such an equation we must first get all the x's on one side, preferably the left hand side.

There are two ways we can do this. First we can do it the simple way where we undo operations as we move over the equal sign. Watch the animation on the right.
Or the other way is to represent the equation as a balance that pivots about the equal sign. Watch the animation on the right.
